Partner Warmup Drills

(15 minutes)

  1. Side control > KOB > uke turns in > switch to seatbelt > uke turtles > back take
  2. Guillotines from seated
  3. Kimuras from closed guard

Live Positional

(10 minutes)

The Big Cheese; switch out after 3 wins. The cheese has closed guard. Win by first to score. Uke can also win by escaping.

Hip Bump Sweep

  1. Get inside control & ideally get uke to post on the ground
  2. Slightly open guard and shrimp out a little, turning onto your side, getting up on your elbow
  3. Sit up, reaching over uke's opposite shoulder (to trap the elbow), turning the elbow into a straight-arm post, turning our leg position into an 'S'.
  4. Drive off the planted foot, drive your hips into the side of uke's chest, pivot off your other knee, complete the sweep

  • Get inside position first before opening your guard.

Kimura from Hip Bump

  1. Attempt a Hip Bump Sweep
  2. Uke posts to defend
  3. Reach over the elbow & hook your hand back through
  4. Jump your hips out to the side, pulling uke back down with your shoulder/upper arm on their shoulder
  5. Close guard if desired & finish the kimura

Keys

  • Get your hips out to the side!

Guillotine from Hip Bump

  1. Attempt a Hip Bump Sweep
  2. Uke drives back into you to defend
  3. Scoot your hips back to make space & turn your reaching arm into a guillotine grip
  4. Close and finish

Keys

  • Make enough space to get your grip in
  • Get over uke's neck / keep their head crunched
