Bow and Arrow Turnover from Front Headlock
May 16, 2023
- Start in top turtle with a front headlock. Your choking-side knee is grounded and your opposite foot is posted.
- Move your (gable) grip to uke's armpit with your outside hand palm up
- Drag your outside forearm in, pinching your elbows together. Your head is sliding to the outside. Your elbow should move relative to your hip, don't tilt your entire body. You can drive in to lift uke's elbow off the ground to make it easier to collapse.
- Switch to a hook grip on uke's triceps with your inside hand.
- Shuffle your feet / knees to start turning the corner, take a big step with your outside foot. Get your head and outside hand ready.
- Hook grip uke's ankle with your outside hand & place the top of your head in uke's ribs / side.
- Pull with your hands and drive with your head and legs. This should turn uke onto their side and/or give you a near side cradle.
Keys
- Keep uke's head pinched so you have maximum control to direct them with it
