Technique
(10 minutes)
Referee's Position Floating
- Start in top referee's position
- If uke rolls away from you
- switch your far hand to hook grip uke's far shoulder, keeping your elbow tight to their back
- shift your near side shin into uke's near side hip pocket
- do a knee shuffle as uke rotates, staying on top of uke's hip (this is similar to a knee on belly switch)
- more details: uke's arm in vs out, uke rolling over their shoulders vs more flattened out
- If uke rolls towards you
- far side hand frames uke's hips away
- near side hand looks for seatbelt or a hook grip on uke's near shoulder
- The two main successful outcomes are a seatbelt back take position or top side control
Keys
- Track uke's hips
- Don't let uke get under both your arms
