Open Guard Passing Concepts
For today's games.
Connections will be any grips, leg entanglements, that keep you in contact with the other player.
Top: base (keep the inside leg position closed), put them on their back, look for openings (hip space, back space, underhooks), create openings with misdirections
Bottom: stay upright to be offensive, keep your feet between you and the top player, stay contracted. See
Game 1
Partners.
A: Seated open guard. Goal: secure a connection for 3 seconds or make the other player hand post.
B: Step into an outside position. No hands (no grips, no posts on the ground) Goal: pass without getting caught in a guard or wrestle up. Disconnecting and resetting is encouraged.
20% effort.
Note: this is a big advantage for the bottom player Note: don't get hurt because you're avoiding hand posting
Mini Techniques
