Partner Warmup Drills

- Top turtle short go-behinds
- Arm drags
Live Positional
(10 minutes)
The Big Cheese; switch out after 3 wins. The cheese has bottom front headlock. Win by escaping to at least a guard or by scoring / submitting.
Front Headlock Dump
- Start turtled in bottom front headlock
- Use your same side hand to get a high triceps grip on uke's arm around your neck
- Step up your far side leg
- Circle away from your triceps grip, underhook with your other hand to guide, and keep the triceps grip tight and pulling down and across your body
- Once you're on top, pull your head out asap
Variants:
- If you build up higher, you can hit this by switching your base & dropping to your hip for the turn (see reference video)
- Instead of underhooking, you can knee tap with your other hand
- You can, in a single motion, headstand / cartwheel over uke as you finish, to avoid the guillotine
- The basic concept is pretty similar to a fireman's carry
Chain this with the Front Headlock Arm Drag
Keys
- The power of this move comes from pulling the triceps grip, not from pushing uke over
- Get a deep grip and stay TIGHT on the arm
- Don't get guillotined

- Switch hands and arm drag, circling behind and covering the far hip
Chain this with the Front Headlock Dump
Keys
- Instead of moving around uke, try to use your same side shoulder to shuck their shoulder forward
